Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I hire you?
When working on a virtual team, it’s important to be responsive and available. We strive to respond to all emails within 24 hours. And we bring the professionalism and effectiveness you expect from employees who have worked at large corporations.
Andrew is formally trained as a marketer, has an MBA in marketing, and has worked on major advertising campaigns – including one with Steven Spielberg.
We’re frequently asked to restructure AdWords accounts that have been previously mismanaged, because we use the same methodology that large paid search agencies use.
What verticals do you typically serve?
Foster Ideas serves businesses in various service industries. We started in real estate and home services (B2C) and have grown to include professional B2B services, software as a service, and online marketplaces.
What’s the biggest budget you’ve managed?
Foster Ideas has had two clients budgeting $1.2 million in paid search advertising per year.
What’s the minimum budget you’ll work with?
Foster Ideas currently has a client spending $300 per month on advertising. We select clients based on our ability to help them accomplish their goals, not based on their monthly budgets.
It depends on the industry, but we typically recommend clients invest at least $10,000 per month in advertising to get enough data for us to make data-driven decisions.
Does advertising on Google actually work?
Yes, it does. But it doesn’t work for everyone. Check out my case studies for examples of how it does work.
The key to making online advertising work is to know how much you’re willing to pay to acquire a new customer. We set up your advertising campaigns to meet that breakeven point. We then optimize the campaigns using data-driven decision making to decrease the cost of acquiring that customer.
You can read more about this advanced approach on Think With Google.
How many clients do you have?
The most clients we’ve had on any given month is 16. Projects vary in size and scope from startups to multinational enterprises and from paid search specialist to fractional marketing executive. We’ve never gone any period of time without any clients.
Do you offshore/outsource your work?
No, Andrew does everything defined in the scope of work.
In the event a client needs help with something out of scope (e.g. graphic design), Foster Ideas will work with a vetted, US-based freelancer. Currently, we’ve got some incredible freelancers helping us with web development and graphic design based in Georgia, Tennessee, Michigan, and Arizona.
What makes you different?
We focus on integration management.
A traditional media buyer will match your target audience to the right advertising channel. A pay-per-click advertising specialist will do this and optimize the conversion rate on your website. We take this one step further and make sure your digital marketing systems are all connected and sharing data with one another.
In order to optimize your campaigns for total profit, your website, ad campaigns, and database all need to be connected. This arms you with the information you need to make data-driven decisions. Integration management enables us to provide an end-to-end service.
What tools do you use?
We’ve had success with SpyFu (keyword research), Moz (SEO), and Unbounce (landing pages). We offer our clients access to these tools, which is typically cheaper than them signing up for their own account.
Can I white-label your services?
Sure! Established agencies frequently subcontract work to us. We can use your Google and Facebook accounts, an email address from your organization, and keep everything confidential.
